Art Nouveau 18k Solid Gold Bow Locket, Antique French Sentimental Pendant c. 1900

This charming round locket has been guarding secrets safely for well over one hundred years. Decorated in the Art Nouveau style, the locket features a central bow motif which is centered with a rose cut garnet. Two white seed pearls are embedded at the base of the ribbon and add an extra element of style. The locket is finished with a lovely reed and cross hatch frame which was popular around the turn of the century and symbolized loyalty and fidelity. The locket opens from the top and remains in excellent antique condition. There is no interior frame but the locket is designed to hold a picture securely in the sides. The locket alignment is slightly off so you'll need to slide the top to the right a bit, a quirk of time which doesn't affect its stability. It closes securely but has some light marks of time and use, particularly to the back which has been scratched and shows two different gold patinas. Check photos and video for details. This is a lovely sentimental piece which has been well loved and well worn and is ready for a new home.
