These lovely little drop earrings feature four brilliant white sapphires prong with a buttery yellow gold closure. The stones are old European cut, as you can see from the open cutlets, and sparkle brilliantly in the sunlight. Sapphires are hard wearing stones which are an excellent diamond substitute. They are luminous and strong. Measuring approximately 5 mm across, the larger sapphire stones are approximately .5 carats while the smaller accent sapphires measure approximately 2 mm across for a weight of approximately 1.4 carat. The top of the lever-back latches into the hinge to hold securely and make sure you will not lose these beautiful statement pieces. They would make a wonderful bridal 'something old'. As a bonus, they even come securely to you in their original box, stamped with the name of a jeweler in Nantes.
CONDITION NOTES:
There are normal signs of wear and age, but nothing of note. The facets look good with no wear under magnification. The hallmark has been worn but was sold to me as 18K gold by a reputable auction house and tested to confirm in multiple places. This was also the French standard at the time.
