BOXED - Antique 14K Gold Diamond and Pearl Cluster Earrings, French Edwardian Daisy Earrings c. 1900
BOXED - Antique 14K Gold Diamond and Pearl Cluster Earrings, French Edwardian Daisy Earrings c. 1900
It's difficult to find a more iconic duo than diamonds and pearls. The old world charm of these lovely earrings is hard to overstate. They feature two 4.5 mm natural half pearls which are securely prong sent and surrounded by a halo of eleven specially selected rose cut diamonds which measure approximately 1.5 mm across. The diamonds are securely held in place by a 14k gold frame which carries a lovely patina of time. Practicality meets sophistication with the inclusion of a secure lever-back closure. This feature ensures that these heirloom earrings remain safely on your ears, protecting them from accidental loss. The details on antique pieces are simply unparalleled and this piece is no exception. Even though it's not visible when worn, the earrings have a lovely pierced lace gallery which adds to their irresistible charm.
I love a little mystery; The earrings are hallmarked with a coquille St. Jacques, a French hallmark for 14k gold which came into circulation in 1994. However the style, box, and numbering on the lever-backs are consistent with a much older pair of earrings. I think the earrings were re-hallmarked for re-sale much later in life after the original hallmark was worn beyond recognition.
Condition Notes:
In excellent antique condition with no wear to the facets under magnification and the pearls are lustrous. The hinges have good tension and alignment and latch securely. The box closes well but shows some signs of age and discoloration around the area where the earrings are held. This is normal for age and wear and can be cleaned.
Material: 14k Rosy Gold, Rose cut diamonds, natural half pearl
Weight: 2.40 g
Period: Edwardian c. 1900
Size: 1.4 cm drop length x 0.9 cm flower diameter
