BOXED | Antique Platinum and 18K Gold, Diamond, and Pearl French Belle Epoque Dormeuse Sleeper Earrings c. 1900

It's difficult to find a more iconic duo than diamonds and pearls. The old world charm of these lovely earrings is hard to overstate. They feature two 4.5 mm natural half pearls which are surrounded by a halo of eleven diamond chips which measure approximately 1.5 mm across. Hand crafted from solid 18 K gold and hallmarked with an owl, they are topped in platinum to help the reflect light from the diamonds, typical of the era.The details on antique pieces are simply unparalleled and this piece is no exception. Even though it's not visible when worn, the earrings have a lovely pierced lace gallery which adds to their irresistible charm. They come in an original antique box which fits them perfectly.

Condition Notes:
In excellent antique condition with no wear to the facets under magnification and the pearls are lustrous. The hinges have good tension and alignment and latch securely. Please note that the earrings feature an early lever back closure in which the earrings go through the back of the earlobe and attach to a rivet at the top of the earrings. This can take some getting used to at first but the hinges are strong with good tension and alignment.
