Charles MURAT Art Nouveau Silver Holly Pillbox Pendant, Antique French Holly Powder box locket c. 1900

It is hallmarked on the interior rim with two crabs along with a maker's mark C.M., for the famed French silver smith Charles Murat, who was particularly active in the Art Nouveau period. A historic piece by one of the most well-known silversmiths of the era, it features beautiful Art Nouveau holly repoussee work along the lid and bottom, the design is cleverly crafted to spill over the edges. Look closely at the ribbon that winds its way around the front and back of the box, as well as the holly which reaches over from the lid of the top to the sides. It's petite enough to be elegantly worn as a pendant, yet roomy enough to securely safeguard your precious possessions. In remarkable antique condition and awaiting a new owner, this pendant makes for an enchanting gift, especially for those with an appreciation for history.

CONDITION NOTES:
The pendant is in excellent antique condition with light denting and micro-scratches consistent with age and use but nothing visible when worn. Inside, you'll find the original mirror in excellent condition, as well as the glow of a lovely gold wash. The top securely latches shut, ensuring that your treasures remain protected until you decide otherwise.
