Edwardian Platinum and 18K Gold Pearl and Diamond Navette Ring, Antique French Marquise Engagement Ring c. 1910
Edwardian Platinum and 18K Gold Pearl and Diamond Navette Ring, Antique French Marquise Engagement Ring c. 1910
This sweet beauty was most probably used an an engagement ring as the interior band is engraved with a date that has been worn with time. It features a rich, buttery yellow gold band with a platinum head inlaid with diamond chips and three large pearls. As the ring was crafted around the turn of the century, it is highly likely that the pearls are natural as the ring predates the manufacture of cultured pearls. It has a sought after trilogy shield design which was very "of the era" and difficult to find nowadays. The ring itself is a beautiful reminder of a time gone by and love that persists through the ages. It is obvious that it was a cherished piece as the band is well worn, standing as a testament to its importance to the wearer. The hallmark is no longer visible on the band but the ring tests as 18k gold by touch stone and the head tests as platinum, typical of the era and standard for French jewelry.
CONDITION NOTES:
As mentioned, there are quite a few scratches to the gold of the band and it is no longer very shiny but remains strong and well shaped. There are soldering marks on the interior where the band meets the head of the ring. It does not look to have been resized and could be resized by a jeweler of your choice. The pearls are in excellent condition with good luster and pearlescence.
