Edwardian Platinum Diamond and Rhodolite Garnet Pompadour Ring c. 1900

This exquisite early 1900s French ring features a rhodolite garnet, set in a halo of fourteen old mine cut diamonds. The garnet boasts a beautiful reddish purple hue, beautifully complemented by the bright, chunky glitter of the diamonds, which collectively weigh approximately 0.85 carat. The garnet measures approximately 7 mm in diameter while the diamonds measure around 2.5 mm each.

The ring showcases a classic French design with its halo setting and diamonds set in platinum. This element was typical of the period to help reflect the light around the diamonds and enhance their brilliance. I personally love the flat cut of the rhodolite garnet, held in a yellow gold bezel settings. It's a unique twist on a popular style which makes for a beautiful, one of a kind statement piece. The ring, found at a reputable estate seller in Paris, bears hallmarks for 18k gold (owl hallmark) and platinum (two mascaron heads). The ring face measures 14.5 mm by 15 mm, with a comfortable height of 4 mm off the finger.

CONDITION NOTES:
The ring is in beautiful condition with a few light scratches to the garnet face, but nothing visible when worn. The diamonds are well set and the ring shows no evidence of resizing.
