FOILED Rose Cut Diamond 14K Gold Royal Blue Enamel Ring c. 1840, Early Victorian French Royal Blue Enameled Ring

FOILED Rose Cut Diamond 14K Gold Royal Blue Enamel Ring c. 1840, Early Victorian French Royal Blue Enameled Ring

This early Victorian diamond solitaire ring was crafted from 14K solid gold c. 1840. The focal point is a brilliant foiled rose cut diamond, cradled in a raised split claw setting for maximum radiance. The diamond measures a generous 6 mm in diameter, making approximately .42 carats. Surrounding and flanking the diamond are rich royal blue enamel accents, adding a regal flair to the piece. The design culminates in intricate scrolling motif in gold relief tapering to a solid shank. The hallmark on the piece has been lost to time, likely during a resize at some point in the ring's long history. The piece has tested as been acid tested as minimum 14k gold purity, which is confirmed by a reputable auction house.

CONDITION NOTES:
The ring is in excellent antique condition with no enamel loss and good light reflection from the foiling. The rose cut diamond has two small scratches to the exterior facets, which do not affect the durability of the piece and are not visible when worn. The ring previously had been sized down with two interior nodules which have been removed to restore the ring to it's original size. A fantastic piece for the astute collector.
