LOVE "Amore" Antique Italian Shield Ring, Black Enamel Signet, Victorian 14k Gold Oval Romantic Gift

This beautiful token of love was purchased in Italy as a family heirloom piece. The ring bears the Italian word 'amore' etched intricately into the yellow gold shield. It has been delicately enameled on the face to make the detailing really stand out. The band is very interesting and features three parallel bands with a perpendicular band of gold that connects them all and keeps them in place. One of the bands tri-bands was separated from the shield at some point and was soldered using tin, visible in photo nine. Tin was used because it has a lower melting point than gold which help preserve the enamel. One of the connection points is also weak, as you can see in photo nine, so you will need to be careful taking it on and off. Otherwise the ring is in excellent condition and the enamel looks beautifully preserved. Although no hallmark is visible, the ring tests for 14k gold which is how it was sold to me. This would make a thoughtful gift of an excellent addition to any collection.
