This beautiful piece makes the perfect engagement ring. Featuring two lovely pear rose cut diamonds in a secure setting, it was crafted around 1900. The ring is designed in the 'toi et moi' style, or 'you and me'. Popularized by Napoleon who gifted his betrothed Josephine a diamond and sapphire toi et moi ring, it symbolizes the union of two souls and became widespread during the Belle Epoque period. The band of the ring is crafted in 18k yellow gold and the ring is accented with platinum to better reflect the light from the diamonds.

Rose cut diamonds were cut to glitter under candlelight, each one uniquely made with lapidaries cutting each stone to bring out their unique characteristics. Featuring an unusual pear shape, the cut on both stones is generous and eye catching. The largest of the stones measures approximately 9.5 mm x 7.78 mm with a depth of .97 mm. The smaller of the two stones measures 8.5 mm x 6.65 mm with a depth of .97 mm. As rose cut diamonds are slivered domes, cut to maximize surface area, a smaller carat weight can still make a big impact on the eye. The diamonds weigh approximately .47 carats and .36 carats respectively, for a combined carat weight of approximately .83 carats.

A gorgeous piece that is the definition of French chic. An eagle head hallmark is visible on the band, guaranteeing at least 18K gold purity.

CONDITION NOTES:
There is some visible frostiness towards the top edge of the larger diamond, visible in photos. The ring does not look to have been re-sized and the diamonds are securely set. They will need to be taken to a jeweler every once in awhile for maintenance, but the ring remains in excellent condition.
