This stunning drapery necklace is crafted from 18k gold and is a typical example of French early 20th century design. Art Nouveau in style, it is delightful in its natural imagery. As with many antique pieces, there remains a hidden symbolism with the choice of daisy as a motif. In the Victorian Era, daisies symbolized innocence and loyalty. Often this style of necklace was given to a romantic partner or given as a wedding gift. Adding an extra touch of beauty and elegance is the addition of two calibrated sapphires centered with a natural pearl which decorate the central daisy cluster.
CONDITION NOTES:
The necklace is a choker, designed to gracefully skim the neckline. It is lightweight, airy, and comfortable. As these necklaces are lightweight and very detailed they are difficult to find nowadays. This chain has been very well preserved and in excellent antique condition. The spring ring has good tension and alignment, the links are secure, and the details are not scratched or dented.
