Victorian 14K Rose Gold Dormeuse Sleeper Earrings with Old Mine Cut Rock Crystal

Victorian 14K Rose Gold Dormeuse Sleeper Earrings with Old Mine Cut Rock Crystal

Stunning in person, the immaculately cut rock crystal reflects the light beautifully in all directions. An early diamond substitute, rock crystal is a clear quartz that was hand cut with the same precision and skill of precious stones. These particular earrings are set in 14k rose gold with a lovely floral halo frame surrounding the stone. The lever back closes at the top, a style popular around the turn of the century, meaning these earrings were crafted before 1900. The closure is in excellent condition, closing with a satisfying 'click' and will fasten securely at the ears so you do not lose this beautiful statement piece. The stone features a frosted girdle, typical of old mine cut gems. They have been acid tested with a touch stone for 14k gold quality as the hallmarks have been worn with time. They were likely a much-beloved piece of jewelry which are now ready for a new home.
