Victorian Niello and Rose Gold Vermeil Silver necklace and locket

This is a stunning niello and rose gold necklace to add to your collection. Niello is a technique in which a metal mixture is fired in a kiln to fill crevices in engraved silver. It is a centuries old technique that gained popularity in Europe towards the end of the Victorian Era. This chain is the perfect necklace length and comes with both the original fleur de lys locket and a small decorative orb charm. Both the niello and the rose gold vermeil are in good antique condition, with wear consistent with age. There is some light niello loss to the locket, visible at the edges of the round pendant and the interior has both frames but has lost one glass to time. That said, these are minor signs of age and time that are to be expected with an antique piece and rather make it even more unique. The dog clip clasp and bolt ring are functioning well and the tension on the big bolt is strong and smooth. As the locket and chain have traveled through the ages together I didn't want to separate them and I think they make a lovely and unique statement piece together.
