This lovely daisy ring is crafted from high carat gold and garnets. Known as "Perpignan garnets" or "Catalan garnets" these are regional jewels crafted near Perpignan, in the Pyrenes foothills close to the the Spanish border. A popular style from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, these jewels were often passed down from mother to daughter. The garnets are rose cuts, which are artfully set in gold to achieve a distinctive purple hue which reflects light beautifully. Evoking the influence of both French and Spanish aesthetics, this rare piece embodies the rich cultural heritage of its origin. Today, only a select few artisans in the South of France possess the expertise to create Catalan garnet jewelry, preserving the legend and story of this unique tradition.
